Need your opinion

I am now 14 days out until my Lap Band surgery.  I am completing checklists, taking care of payments, scheduling babysitting for the kiddos, & locking in help for me but I need some advice on a few other things.
Therefore, I am taking a poll:

1.  what is your favorite protein powder & why?
2.  what chewable vitamins do you take?
3.  post-op what could you take for pain or headaches?  (Is there even a chewable motrin/tylenol adult strength?)
4.  what was the hardest stage of the post-op process?  (clear liquids?  full?  soup?  pain?)

thanks for your help!

  1. Hm....I'm not going to be much help here.....I've been known to help myself to the kids dinosaur chewables from Costco....does that help? ;)

  2. 1.) Not applicable! I hateeee protein powder.
2.) The kids chewable vitamins are actually fine if you double up on them!
3.) Children's liquid tylenol. Just double the amount and it works fine. I really didn't need much pain medication after day 3 or 4.
4.) Full liquids, by far. Because, when you're on clear, you're just a few days out of surgery, so you're not hungry or thirsty really at all. But when you get to full liquids you think... I could probably do mushies.

    Hope that helps!

  3. 1. UNJURY (available online). I tried so many brands and Unjury was the only one I liked. Chocolate is my fave.

    2. Opurity for my multi and Bariatric advantage for all the others. Vitamins are SOOO important.

    3. Liquid Tylenol and liquid vicodin from my surgeon. Have the prescription filled prior to surgery.

    4. I enjoyed too much IV pain meds in the hospital (dilaudid) and therefore was queezy for a few days...if I had to do it over again I would try to stick to tylenol if possible.

  4. 1) I like Greek Yogurt. 14g of protein. I liked the cheap Jillian Michaels chocolate from walmart. Only if I blended it with ice. Click Mocha flavored was nice but expensive. But that being said i don't like any of the powders all that much!

    2) my doc gave me bariatric advantage chewables. They are alright. I like the gummies the best. They have adult versions.

    3) from day one I have been able to swallow pills. Tylenol extra strength. I didn't take much of the pain meds they gave me except at night. Now..I take ibuprohren. My docs, nurses and everyone involved said nsids were just fine months after surgery.

    4) The pain was by far hardest for me. It was tougher then I thought it was going to be. The gas pains in my shoulder were really awful. But having said that..6 months later I hardly remember it at all. I was not hungry at all. Not for a few days. Then mushies and soup were easy and filling.

  5. For the stuff that I can answer!.....

I just got in my Max Protein today! And it was unbelievably AWESOME! No medicine taste to it. No nasty nothing! I couldn't believe it! I'm actually about to blog on it right now. I got it in vanilla and just mixed it with a little milk. I know everyone's tastes are different but after all the research I did on that one and even trying it myself...I don't think I'll ever buy a different brand again. A little on the expensive side but worth it.

As for the vitamins, I picked up some gummie pre-natal vitamins at Wal-mart the other day. I like them better than the one-a-day ones because they're not as hard and seem like they'd go down better after surgery. But of course I dunno. And pre-natal vitamins are just always best for us women anyways cause of the folic acid, etc.

And as far as the pain med stuff.....I've been looking around and mostly all I see is the children's stuff. Liquid children's tylenol or baby advil.

So that's all I can help with if that helps at all!
